Spain is numero 1, Italy #12 as outlined by FIFA World Ranking. A mere reminder. So, basically Spain has advantage. To me it's only in some recoverable format, in line with previous results.
What makes a difference more is both of these nations current shape. Spain hasn't been playing their very best soccer on this tournament, with exception of game against Ireland. Team is overloaded with stars, but just as a unit, or you look at quality of their game... they really are, in my mind, well behind from where these folks were towards South Africa or earlier, in EURO 2008.
Spain gotten to the absolute best in Europe as well as in the whole book in general, this team continues to be the best of them for quite a while...and when you achieve all those things, you climbed to the summit...sooner or later must take way down the slope. I dare to think that Spain has already been at this point. Games that Spain played at this tournament say it for itself.
